Writers Escape

The first of many opportunities to write amongst the splendor of the Hale-Byrnes House. Participate in a suggested group activity or write solo.

Words of Wisdom

University of Delaware guest speakers Drs. Amish Travedi and Viet Dinh are joining us to discuss inspiration, structure, and form. Ask them as many questions as you like!

Use this time to write freely, collaborate with others or just rest among the fall foliage. Participate in a suggested group activity or write solo.

Dinner Service

Comforting classics and down-home staples, full of autumn flavors and local ingredients, served buffet-style on the terrace.

Enjoy a leisurely brunch buffet and conversation on the Hale-Byrnes' terrace, overlooking the water and changing leaves.

9:00a - 10:30a

Words of Wisdom

Famed award-winning poet and adjunct professor Caleb Curtiss from the University of Delaware is joining us to discuss querying, publishing, and self-marketing. You won't want to miss this.

10:30a  - 11:30a

Writers Escape

11:30a - 2:00p

Escape to a quiet corner of the property, or engage in a group session with other attendees. Participate in a suggested group activity or write solo.

Writers WIP Workshop

Engage in spirited conversation and collaboration with the other authors to discuss your works-in-progress, upcoming events, inspirations and words of encouragement. Brainstorm, network and find your next biggest fan.

2:00p - 3:30p

Closing Remarks

Our best wishes for a safe return home, success on your future projects and plans for upcoming events hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Independent Writers Association.

3:30p - 4:00p

Your host and chef will be available after 430p on Sunday, Oct 8, to answer any questions about her books or the retreat. She is planning to host a dinner meal offsite at a local eatery. If you'd like to participate, please reach out!
